Sugaring

Lina Kennedy, President of Alexandria Professional demonstrating body sugaring.

Body Sugaring is an all natural method of removing hair using a thick paste made from sugar, lemon juice, and water.

Sugaring is the only skin conditioning treatment that also removes hair. Regular sugaring can prevent and eliminate ingrown hair as well as help manage certain skin conditions affected by keratosis by offering gentle exfoliation.

This treatment is suitable for all skin types and conditions, even eczema and psoriasis. Sugaring is safe for pregnant women and those with sensitive skin.

Sugar is noncomedogenic, 100% sanitary, bacteria resistant (click here), and even possesses healing qualities (click here).

With Sugaring, hair can successfully be removed at about 3mm or 1/8" - that's about the length of a single grain of rice. This is also the ideal time to remove hair. Hair that is between 1/8" to 1/4" (roughly 7-10 days after a shave) is normally in the best stage to attempt permanency or permanent hair loss.

Regular body sugaring at 1/8" (Catagen phase of growth) leads to greatly reduced hair growth over time and eventual permanent hair loss caused by follicle collapse.

Sugar paste decongests hair follicles by removing dry, dead skin from the surface layer, improving skin tone and texture while also removing unwanted hair. Wax alternatively adheres to and removes the top layers of live and dead skin cells causing inflammation and irritation.

Sugaring is less painful than waxing.

With waxing, hair is removed in the opposite direction of hair growth often causing redness, irritation, broken hair, and ingrown hairs. The technique used to remove the sugaring paste ensures that hair is removed in the direction of hair growth to reduce the risk of breakage and ingrown hairs, reduce unnecessary discomfort and irritation, leaving skin soft, clean, and radiant.

In contrast to wax, sugar paste is never hot.

There is never a risk of burning, lifting or other skin damage sometimes cause by waxing. Instead, sugar is used at body temperature, also reducing irritation and discomfort.

Our Sugar Paste is made by Alexandria Professional, a local professional body sugaring education hub and manufacturer with over 25 years of experience.

It contains no fragrances, parabens, artificial colours, petro chemicals, or resins - it is 100% biodegradable, washes off gently with warm water, and is actually edible!

Each of our Sugarists have been trained and certified by Alexandria Professional to practice body sugaring.

Hair should be approximately 1/8" (3mm), about the length of a grain of rice.

Regular body sugaring at 1/8" (Catagen phase of growth) leads to greatly reduced hair growth over time and eventual permanent hair loss caused by follicle collapse.

We recommend sugaring large areas every 4 weeks.

The Day of Your Appointment: Avoid lotions in the areas to be sugared. Do not exfoliate the day before or the day of your appointment. If sugaring underarms, please do not use deodorant the day of.

After Sugaring: Avoid sweating for 24 hours - no exercise, saunas, tanning etc. Keep pores clean and dry - no lotions for 24 hours to allow pores to close. Do not exfoliate for 24 hours following your appointment.

Between Appointments: Keep skin hydrated with moisturizer and exfoliate regularly to remove dead skin cells between appointments and avoid ingrown hairs.
